The oldest Claddagh ring known in existence dates from c.1700; it was made by renowned Galway goldsmith Richard Joyce from one of the fourteen merchant tribes of Galway and is credited with the modern design of this iconic ring.

And what beautiful stories there are behind Claddagh rings! It is associated with love and marriage; it is also passed down from mother to daughter, and the design represents the phrase "Let love and friendship reign".
